These are ordered deliberately. Each one depends on the previous being true, so doing them out of order wastes the afternoon. The verification line is not optional polish 鈥?it is how you separate work from activity.
01
Choose one page that already has a pulse
Open your query report and find a URL with impressions but a weak average position. That page is already eligible, which means Google is willing to test it. A brand-new page has no such evidence and takes far longer to read.
VerifyThe page shows impressions for at least one phrase that contains a product or service noun.
02
Answer the question above the fold
Write the answer in the first two or three sentences, before the company history and before the specification table. The person reading has one question; if the answer is in paragraph six, the tab closes at paragraph two.
VerifyThe answer appears without scrolling, and it contains the phrase the buyer would use, not the phrase your industry uses.
03
Rewrite the title to match the question
One phrase, one promise. If the title contains three keywords, it usually contains none. Keep it under sixty characters so it survives a phone screen, and make sure the body delivers exactly what the title claims.
VerifyThe title fits on one line in a mobile preview and the page proves the claim within one screen.
04
Add one contextual internal link
Pick a page that already receives traffic and link to your chosen page from inside a sentence, with anchor text a human would actually say. Menu links and footer links carry far less weight than a link a reader would follow.
VerifyThe linking page's own report shows clicks this month, and the anchor text appears inside body copy.
05
Write down one number, then wait
Impressions, clicks, or enquiries 鈥?one of the three, recorded with today's date. This is the step everyone skips, and it is the reason nobody can tell whether SEO works. Without a baseline, every later opinion is a feeling.
VerifyThe log line has a date, a URL, a query, and a number. A stranger could re-check it.
06
Then stop adding and start repeating
The sixth action is restraint. One page per week, twelve weeks, beats forty pages in a fortnight followed by silence. Repetition is what turns five actions into an average position that holds through an update.
VerifyTwelve dated log lines exist by the end of the quarter, one per week.
